This is my adorable mama! She is in the baby boomer generation and does not know how to use that camera. Guess what else she doesn’t know how to use? Instagram! If she is your target audience and you’re trying to reach her here, you won’t have much luck. Now, there are of course plenty of baby boomers that are very competent in Instagram, but the majority of your social success will come from Facebook. That’s where a lot of them hang out. I love my mom, she is very smart and funny, and I’m sure she’d love Instagram if she learned how to use it, but she’s comfortable in Facebook, so target her there. #knowyouraudience
What I mean by this is to be proud of yourself and your company or service. Share with your family and friends, and show them your excitement and passion! Tell them to think of you when your service is needed for them or others they know. Grow your tribe or network of others within your industry or just with other entrepreneurs! Word of mouth starts with your own, so share it! Be proud, confident, but remember your manners, don’t brag. Just be genuine, that’s pretty much what everything comes down to. . . . FALSE! Now, this is no way meant to discourage you from pursuing your dreams or building a company but you need to know that it’s not an overnight success and just by having a website does not mean you will succeed. Great, you have something to sell and you built a website around it, next? You have to keep putting in the work everyday! Don’t give up, just keep trying. Build, create, market, engage, repeat! Building is just the first step, so keep on going.
